On a stretch of fresh green leaves, I found a very beautiful insect, the first time I'd seen one. At first glance, I thought it was a fly. After I got closer, I realized it wasn't. At first glance, it looked very similar. I didn't know the name of this insect in my native Indonesian. I only found its Latin name, Orthopagus lunulifer. I found that name on inaturalist when I uploaded my observations there.
I found the insect perched on the leaf, seemingly warming itself in the gentle sunlight. Where it stood, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves. It stood there motionless, perhaps disguised as a statue. Its tiny body and translucent wings seemed to blend perfectly with the veins of the leaf it was perched on.
The insect was very beautiful. Notice the unique pattern on its body and wings. If you look closely, the pattern looks like a delicate carving that mimics the intricacy of natural batik. It's truly beautiful, and such a pattern is rare among other insects. Not only are its body and wings adorned with unique patterns, but so are its eyes. Its round eyes are adorned with a pattern of brown and white stripes.
