Micraspis discolor beetle

in Nature Observer11 hours ago

Amidst a soothing expanse of fresh green, a tiny insect was busy exploring its world. It was a Micraspis discolor beetle better known as a farmer's friend. This beetle helps protect crops by preying on pests that threaten to damage them, such as planthoppers and aphids. Finding this lovely beetle is easy; you can spot them in agricultural areas like orchards or rice fields. The one I found was nestled in a small bush within a rice field.

The beetle is tiny, yet its striking colors made it easy to spot a brilliant orange accented by glossy black lines. Photographing it was no easy task, it was constantly on the move, never staying still a challenge I had to overcome. I took shots while it was moving. It wasn't easy, but that didn't stop me from trying. I snapped over a hundred photos, though only a few turned out well enough to share with you here.

The beetle may look small, but its presence brought a sense of liveliness to the surroundings. When the sunlight hit it, its back shimmered beautifully. It was as if nature had intentionally painted it in such striking colors so that anyone who saw it would pause for a moment to admire it.

Sorry, I tried to ask for beetle jumping off the cliff, and this came up. Nevertheless, you've been curated 🤣

The cliff is too dangerous; let it jump onto the leaves instead. Thank you for the support.
