Flesh fly

Perched calmly upon a broad green leaf is a small insect a flesh fly belonging to the subgenus Sarcophaga. When flies are mentioned, many people immediately picture tiny creatures that frequent filthy places, often regarding them as repulsive and annoying. Yet, in the eyes of nature, the fly is neither a nuisance nor a source of disgust, rather, it plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance that unfolds every moment. It aids in decomposing animal carcasses and serves as a delicious snack for predators such as birds, spiders, and frogs.

One thing that amazes me about this type of fly is that, despite its tendency to frequent unsanitary areas, it emits no foul odor. While I was close to it, I detected absolutely no smell. It is truly a remarkable creature. Though often overlooked, the fly possesses a beauty that rivals that of any other insect. Its body features a blend of gray and deep black, while its large red eyes give it a striking appearance. Its transparent wings are adorned with beautiful black markings, and its sturdy legs are a solid, deep black. Its entire body is also covered in fine hairs that match its coloration.
