Dryomyza anilis fly

in Nature Observer5 days ago

This morning, I found something interesting again, perched on an old wall. It was a Dryomyza anilis fly, a beautifully colored species of fly from the Dryomyzidae family. Its body was light brown, accentuated by the jet black of its eyes. I found the fly perched there, seemingly lethargic, perhaps having just finished a fight or perhaps just completed a long journey. When I approached, it didn't appear afraid; it appeared relaxed, as if nothing had happened. I was delighted to find an insect that behaved like that.

To the naked eye, the fly looked ordinary, perhaps even uninteresting. However, when it appeared on camera, especially when I zoomed in, its body appeared stunning, as if nature had painted it with soft, warm colors. Its small body was also covered in fine hairs, making its appearance even more captivating. The reflection of the sunlight made it even more alluring. The fine hairs resembled a coat, perhaps protecting it from the harsh environment it had explored.
