Common asian millipede

in Nature Observer6 days ago

In a quiet corner of a damp forest, among the rotting logs on the forest floor, I found an individual relaxing. Its body was curled gracefully on one of the logs. It was a common asian millipede, known in Latin as trigoniulus corallinus, and it belonged to the trigoniulidae family.

The Common asian millipede is one of the most unique animals in the world. Look at its numerous legs, stretching as long as its body. Such a number of legs is rare in other animals, only found in those belonging to the trigoniulidae family. When it steps, its tiny legs work in unison, resembling the fingers of a harpist playing on silent strings. It's truly captivating, and it's only felt by those who take the time to observe it for a moment.

Furthermore, its long, shiny body is equally captivating. Its neatly arranged segments resemble a string of beads, specially designed by nature. Every curve of its body tells a story, whether it's about the dry leaves and rotting wood it feeds on or the drop of morning dew that quenches its thirst. Its entire body is red—not a striking red, but a red almost like the earth. It's a beautiful color, as if every segment of its body holds the breath of the earth.

If you want to see this unique animal in person, you don't have to go to the wilderness filled with dry leaves and rotting wood. The Common Asian Millipede is found everywhere, even in your yard. It doesn't fly or jump, it simply walks as gently as possible on the ground.
