Lentinus arcularius

The shape is really interesting, with the surface of the hat being a bit rough and looking like it has fine hairy patterns. But what is most striking is the lower part—the gill (blades) look neat and solid, and on the brim of the hat there are some kind of small teeth. After I researched it, it turned out that this was the Lentinus arcularius mushroom.

This fungus usually grows on dead wood, and I found it on dry tree trunks that were almost rotten. The color is light whitish brown, and the size is not too big. It is said that this fungus is included in the group of wood-decomposing fungi, so it has an important role in decomposing dead wood.

What amazes me is that mushrooms this small can have such beautiful details if you look closely. I took several photos using a macro lens so that the unique parts could be clearly seen. It feels really good to find new mushroom species (at least new to me) around the house.

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
