Genus Zoraida

I found a small insect that was almost invisible at first because its color was so different from the surrounding leaves. After I looked more closely, it looked like this was from the Genus Zoraida.

The body shape is very slim, the color is light green, and the antennae are very long, longer than the body. His legs also look strong, the type of legs that are ready to jump if they feel disturbed. Its size is small, about the length of a finger.

What's interesting is that this insect moves quickly, but is not the type that flies high. He prefers to just jump between leaves and grass. When I wanted to take a photo, I had to be very patient because he was easily startled. Luckily I brought a macro lens, so I was able to get some pretty clear photos.

According to the information I was looking for, this Zoraida belongs to the leaf grasshopper (katydid) family, but its shape is different from grasshoppers in general, thinner and smaller. Not many people have documented this insect either, so it was quite nice to meet it in person.

NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
