Calliphara nobilis, a type of beetle from the Scutelleridae family, which is often referred to as the Jewel Bug.
I found it on the leaves of a plant on the outskirts of a small forest near the village. At that time the weather was quite sunny after drizzling in the morning. This beetle looked quite calm, not moving too much, so I had the opportunity to take several photos from various angles. Up close, the patterns and colors are truly extraordinary, looking like layers of metal that change color depending on the angle of the light.
This Jewel Bug is known to have a shield that covers almost its entire body, similar to a ladybug but more sturdy. According to several sources, they are often found on their host plants and some feed on plant sap. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to observe for longer whether this beetle was eating or just resting on the leaf.
The experience of finding Calliphara nobilis was quite memorable for me, because its unique color and shape made it look like a small gem in the wild.
