Everyone deserves a second chance and so does clothes. So instead of discarding a worn out or damaged piece I like to look for a creative way to transform it into something useful. So in this post I will be sharing how I transformed one of my favorite clothes into a whole new top.
Ok, below you can see the damaged top lying on the floor thinking about it's fate before I came to rescue her 😎
So this cloth was perfect when I bought it, it was even my favorite but somehow the fabric used for the outer side of the cloth was fading, the ash color was fading out badly probably due to what is was made of oe because I've worn and washed it several times. So eventually it got bad and I couldn't wear it, so it just sat in the wardrobe for long.
I didn't just want to throw it away as it is not really in my nature to throw clothes away especially when we don't have much. So I had the idea to turn it into something else and taking away the damaged part.
So I got to work, took my scissors and bent my back low to think of the perfect thing to do with this cloth.
So first I knew I had to remove the outer part first. So that's what I did and that involved cutting out the sleeves, the hood and then gently loosen the threads holding the outer fabric. And that's exactly what I did
So at this point I had the idea of stitching the inner part together, that is hemming the neck and the armhole side turning it into a sleeveless top. I did that!
But I still loved the hoodie so I didn't want to let it go so I decided to fix it on the top so that it will be a sleeveless hoodie top and I must say I really like the outcome.
So I shaped it to my body size and it fit perfectly and the next morning I wore it for a run and it was super comfortable.

I think the whole process took me about 30 to 40 minutes to finish due to all the thinking and readjustments but I'm glad I did it in the end
Turning my old hoodie into a comfortable hoodie top was both fun and rewarding experience and and also a fulfilling one. I love how I saved the life of the poor cloth.
Yes with a little creativity we can breath life into things we might have thrown away otherwise and it always feels good when we create new things for ourselves and I personally love the joy it brings.
Thank you all for your time here, I hope you enjoyed the process too.
