Hello everyone, I’m sure you can tell how excited I am from the title of this post. There is always joy in knowing that your passion inspires someone. I’ve been crocheting for a while on hive and I’ve had people come to me to express their interest in crocheting. The first question I normally ask them is if they have patience because as I always say, to be a crocheter, you’d need an ocean full of patience. Out of the many people that have approached me, is @valchiz.
He is my first crochet student from hive.I actually thought he was just playing around when he expressed his interest but no,he wasnt. He showed how serious he was about beginning his crochet journey and just like that he had already even bought his crochet kit. When he reached out to me on discord and showed me, I was so excited for him. The kit looked so cool that I spent about minutes obsessing over it which was kind of funny for him because according to him I should have like a whole lot of crochet kits(which is true).
I’m sure every crocheter knows that no matter the number of crochet hooks or yarns you have, you’ll always be excited getting new ones.
He admitted he didn’t really know anything at all and when I say at all, I mean he didnt even know how to hold the yarn and hook. He made a comment that when he tries holding the yarn it’s difficult to pull it with the hook which made me know he is indeed doing the right thing because that’s the first difficult thing for every beginner who does the right thing.
I started with the very basic things in crochet, explaining the sizes of the hooks and what they are used for.How to know the right hook and yarn for your work and then moved on to making chains to stitches to patterns. It’s my first time teaching someone crocheting online and I must say I’m so impressed.
He is definitely really smart and so fast at grasping the things I try to tell him. I like the fact that he also tries exploring new patterns and does new things all the time on his own.For patience, he really has it and understands when he has to redo his work to achieve a better result. I really can’t wait to see what he does in the subsequent days with this new skill he’s acquiring.I am hopeful that he’ll become better than his teacher.
Valchiz,I know it’s not going to be an easy journey, you might want to give up on frustrating days where you’d have to undo all your work because of a tiny mistake but always remember why you started. I would like to say I’m really impressed with your progress and I wish you all the best in this journey.
Congratulations and good luck sir.
