Hello everyone, happy new month to you all. I’m here today to share with you my long sleeve top of many colours. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while so I’m glad I did. This is one of the most simplest things I’ve crocheted in a while. It’s basically made up of granny stitches and granny squares. I just wanted to make use of my yarns and this came to mind. The little story behind this top is me trying to manifest a colourful July so it’s exciting to have finished this on time to share with you all on the first of July.
I love each and every stitch here. I used about 12 hours to make this because of the breaks I had to take. This whole top is made up of 350 granny stitches and 1050 double crochets. So in short, you’re basically repeating the same thing for 1050 times. You might be wondering how I chose the colours. Well, they were chosen randomly. I put them in a basket and then just used any of the yarns that my hand touched. Hehe. Got the idea from @artemisnorth.
Materials I used:
• Different colours of yarn
• 1.60mm crochet hook
• Measuring tape
I started by making two gigantic granny squares. Just like how you make granny squares, you make 4 chains and then slip stitch into the first chain. So I did that at first and then I made 4set of 3 double crochets with two chains in between them into the space. Meaning you make three double crochet and then 2 chains and then three double crochet.
I built on this till I got to the size that I wanted. I made it to 22 rows and columns for a gigantic square which translated to 17.5 inches. I made another gigantic square and then made sure it was the same size as the first one. I joined them together with a slip stitch leaving a space at the armhole and the shoulders.
I then made the sleeves. For the sleeves, I made 45 rows of granny stitches with each row being made up of 21 granny stitches which translated into 17inches for the sleeves. I was done. Simple right? Yeah that’s why I mentioned in the beginning that this is the simplest thing I’ve ever crocheted.
The result
I enjoyed doing this and a fun fact is that I crocheted half of this with my eyes closed just because it’s simply a repetition of the same thing throughout.
