Many times I have heard and thought about the folk saying: "A boot protects the head and a shoe adorns it" and several times I was in a situation to confirm it as correct...
That is a great truth.
How many times have I watched old war movies, when soldiers in the war, first took off each other's boots (when the latter died in battle), and only then searched their pockets in search of tobacco or valuables.
If the foot is in a bad boot, which leaks water, which slides on a wet surface, which does not secure the foot adequately, the question is how long it would tread with a quick step.
I'm familiar with the feeling when I get wet, and drops of water run down my neck and back...
But it's not as unpleasant as it is when water splashes in my shoes.
So, when I go somewhere on a long trip, I must look for good shoes, with quality rubber soles.
For me to be comfortable, so that it doesn't slip when wet, so that it doesn't leak water...
And what do I do when I plan a long trip by car?
Likewise, I start by checking the wheels and tires, which keep my head safe while driving.
By installing summer tires, I remove bulky and very noisy winter tires from the car.
And it's no wonder that the winter tire is noisy and why the steering wheel shakes when it has such crampons 🙂
Because of that slight vibration on the steering wheel while driving winter tires, I decide to do a detailed inspection of the newly installed summer tires, which are much more pleasant and quieter.
I then check the age of the tire, the depth of the tire, do the balancing, in order to prevent the vehicle from shaking while driving, and finally I check the complete steering mechanism, the so-called gear centering.
That's how I make my car stand (drive) firmly and stably on the ground.
Good tires (as good shoe) make it adhere well to the surface, slide in the wet and brake well.
And a well-centered gear leads to safer and more precise steering, because only a car with a centered gear is a safe car.
While the service technician is checking the steering precision of my steering wheel, I think about all the situations in which I needed its precision, and I had it.
That's my mindset - to prepare for every situation, and all in order to protect my head on my shoulders 🙂
