Chasing Time

I can't really say why, but I feel like time has been a big theme in my life lately. Whether it's the passing of time, the fact that we have far too little, or that our time on this earth is short, it's been a bit of a apparition on the edge of my periphery.

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that @mrsbozz and I took a trip a couple towns over to get her jewelry inspected at one of the few jewelry stores that are still open. With the gradual demise of the American shopping mall, that leaves jewelry stores out in the cold. I remember at the height of our local shopping mall there was one intersection that had three jewelry stores all sitting across from each other.

I also remember buying an engagement ring from one of those stores (not for @mrsbozz, but that's a long story for another time). As they were cleaning and inspecting her jewelry, we always take our time to look at what they have in the cases. It never fails the guy always suggests we upgrade what we have or buy something new.

The funny thing is, even though her ring might not be the biggest, @mrsbozz could never fathom upgrading. It's the rings we exchanged on our wedding day. Anything else would just seem too fake.

Sorry, I got off on a tangent there. Good thing this is the reflections community... It never fails that I always end up looking at the watches. I really love watches, but I am so clumsy and careless, I know I would scratch the hell out of one if I ever got one. I can't see the point of spending a couple hundred (or more) on a watch just to scuff it up.

They sure are pretty though.

That third one in from the left really speaks to me for some reason. Then again, I like the elegant simplicity of the all black ones too.

@ericvancewalton wrote a really cool post the other day talking about watches. Yet another example of time finding a way to stay in my orbit.

This week has been nuts and it isn't even half over with yet. @mrsbozz and I have so much crammed into the next five days that I am not sure how we are going to hold it all together. It kind of feels like we are sitting on the face of once of those watches waiting to get spun off.

I wrote this post on Monday about the passing of an old friend and once again, I feel like I am being hounded by time.

Then, to top it all off, we had the time change this past weekend where we faithfully and often begrudgingly turn our clocks forward an hour. I don't know if the time change is a worldwide thing, but it really messes with you.

My whole routine is still totally off. I feel like I am on a full tilt most of the time. Jovi is so confused about why we are going to bed when it is still light out. I had to basically drag her out of bed this morning. It's seriously rough.

There's a saying that goes something like the only two things you can count on are death and taxes. I'd posit that the third is time. As steady as a west wind and ready to blow you over out of the blue if you aren't ready for it.

It's honestly a bit crazy just how much time factors into pretty much everything we do. I bet if you thought about it long enough, you could find some saying or anecdote about time for nearly any situation.

Remember that saying about timing the market and time in the market?

I rest my case!

I appreciate you sticking around for my random rambling. At the very least, you got to see some pictures of some really pretty watches.

I hope it wasn't a waste of your time!

Time might be the third constant. Then again, it might be an illusion. As the Buddhists say, "There is no time". 😃 No doubt there is change, however, so out of convenience calling whatever this change is "time" works. Remember when we were kids singing "Too Much Time on My Hands" with Styx. Now it seems very much the opposite of that, where blink and a few years go by.

I love watches too. If I had the money, I'd buy a nice luxury watch. An Omega maybe. But I don't, so I just admire from afar. Maybe if Ray ever hurries up and makes us rich I can get one.

Yeah, that is a good point. I guess in the eternal scheme of things time doesn't really matter. Silly humans always thinking so linearly all the time! I know right, Ray needs to step it up!

Aww
I’m very sure that Mrzbozz loves the engagement ring that you got for her. I also think a lot of us worry too much about time but don’t worry, everything will be set

I think she does too. Thank you for that, I appreciate it!

Stop worrying about time, all it will do is make your life shorter. Take care of yourself and the cards lay as they will. Stress is not good for you.

Thanks, I appreciate that!

Enjoy life. It’s sounds like you eat pretty well. So stop stressing over shit you can’t control.

I eat a lot better than I used to. Red meat used to be a staple of my diet and now it might be once a month that I have any red meat at all.

Watches aren't expensive if you have the money to purchase. But like me I know I will get one for myself one day

I guess it depends on the watch you get. Most of the ones in these photos are $300 USD and higher.

Wow that's great but for now let's keep it pending

I get the attraction of watches as jewellery and as pieces of engineering, but I tended to have fairly cheap ones. Now I just use my Garmin. My son has several watches, but he cares more about looks than me.

We change the clocks here, but it seems an archaic system and causes confusion. At least most gadgets adjust automatically these days.

We can't change the march of time, but we can make the most of it.

I was looking at the Garmin watches, but those aren't very cheap either! I about fell out of my chair when I saw the price on some of them!

Well mine is a lower end model. You can pay for more features that I don't really need.

The end comes when it comes, just enjoy the ride until then. Don't stress it too much! My body is still off from the time change, the irony is I used to travel to Europe and never even had jet lag... I'm getting old!

Aren't we all! Yeah, I don't remember the time changing kicking my butt so much, but the past couple of years it has just been brutal!

A feeling I know all too well!

We have time changes here in the UK too. We are used to them because they are a set thing - but if you forget about them, it can be a pain. I worked a night shift on and off for two years when I was younger. When the clock went back we used to have to work from midnight to 8am (which was the standard shift), and at 8am, they would dial back the clock to 7am. We would then have to work an extra hour (which we got paid for) before the next shift would then start at 8am. That extra hour was a killer !

Oh wow, I bet! I always remember the worst time being when it happened right before Easter Sunday, so not only did you lose an hour of sleep, but if you were going to sunrise service you had to be up before the crack of dawn!

Time is indeed something we cannot stop. So, better enjoy each day! Anyway, thank you for sharing @bozz !🤗

Thank you for stopping by and commenting!
