RE: AI Takes Out Jobs: Elon Musk Suggested A Universal Basic Income As Solution - On Ecency

I'm incredibly wary of UBI. It's either the Dole under another name, or it's a way to pay everyone the same no matter what work they do (or the quality of their work). By definition it's Universal; only using for people impacted by automation is just another way of saying "unemployment benefit".

It sounds suspiciously like Communism in it's less beneficial incarnations. Either it's at a breadline level, enforcing poverty and encouraging a black economy to develop for anyone who wants anything beyond the basics, or it's at a good level in which case the level of taxation required will close down any non-state funded business and the whole thing falls over into money-printing and rampant inflation.

I'm honestly not sure what the answer to AI is, but looking at the direction it's developing in, I'm starting to think we may not need to worry. Just look up what happened when the USAF carried out a simulation (luckily it was just a simulation) with an AI controlled drone.

😂😂 my good friend I didn't want to mention communism but you're right it actually does sound like that... I'm definitely going to look it up
