I've been employed by a company who up until the late 2010s was using zipping up folders as version control. You'd be surprised how bad companies are.
Good people, bad tech, old style practices(no remote). Definitely not going back unless major changes are made. Definitely "interesting" tech choices were made. But coworkers were nice!
I was waiting to be done with a huge chunk of code, and then just upload it to my repo. But... the idea of using git is to slowly, as you progress, create branches. So if you mess up, you can backpedal without feeling immense hatred in your heart.
