Indeed, it's a type of jaw harp, but depending on the shape and metal used, it can play a different role in the ensemble.

Clue No#2: This instrument is played in folk music in South Asia.
I had to do some research to find it. Took me some minutes. It sounded like western films
perhaps but no-one yet found the exact one I'm referring to.
