RE: Family Is Not Always Everything || LOH #300

Don't want to play devil's advocate here, but friends can also act like some of your family members... They can also betray and deceive us, with the difference that we can "ditch them", and family will stay family... On the other side, I suppose those bad seeds of the family are usually marginalized, or simply ignored... At least, that's how I deal with it... Family members who don't appreciate others are those that I don't keep in contact with at all... Yes, we tend to give "more chances" to the family than others, but why would we spend our time on those who don't deserve it?

As you said, we have good friends who are by our side, and we should be by their side, too!

I don't agree less with you. I mean, terrible humans will continue to be that regardless of what position they hold in our lives. The problem is gaslighting people who choose to see family differently and enabling even poorer behaviours with the statement that claims family is everything.

I love my family a lot, but I've also learned to keep a distance with the ones who have proven to be less reliable and trustworthy.

Like you said, I hope we channel our enegeries to those who deserve it, and try to be just as kind as our neighbours!
