Made For The Office - LOH 281

in Ladies of Hive2 months ago (edited)

I reckon the nature of one's job determines whether they'll work from home or go to the office. For remote jobs, like virtual assistants and others, working from home is a piece of cake. In fact, the obvious choice. But for roles like sales representatives, marketing executives, health workers, instructors, etc, working from the office isn't an option, or should I say, is a must.

As a marketing executive in a radio station, being in the office is a must. My job demands that I be out in the field, meeting new people, pitching our station, exploring new opportunities, and more. So I navigate between the office and the field. Once at the office, I plan my day, then hit the field to prospect and pitch my station. Afterwards, I return to the office to wrap up.

Just this morning, I visited a new business near my office and pitched my radio station to them - that's something I wouldn't have done from home.

Now here are some good sides to working in the office.

Offices provide a clear boundary between work and personal life, and a routine that some people thrive on. You have a time to work, say 9-5, after which you have the rest of the day to yourself. No mix up, whatsoever.

In addition, office work makes collaboration and team work much easier. You work with people, share ideas that helps promote individual goals and team goals too.

Also, office work creates networking opportunities, professional connections, mentorship, and career growth.

In the course of my work, I've had to train and mentor new team members on the job. Mind you, the job involves a lot of paperwork - writing ad copies, preparing advert schedules, etc. plusY the field part too. This would have been a difficult task to carry out if I'd been working from home.

Having worked from home during COVID, I found that it offers one a level of flexibility and comfort, allowing you to create your own schedule and work in your own space. It could also lead to increased productivity and creating work-life balance. This is to mention but a few.

However, I'm still up for working from the office. This is because being in the office helps me keep to routines, makes me connected, organized to perform efficiently.

Plus, it's the best way for me to harness my job - breaking new ground, meeting prospects and pitching my station, and finally getting them to convert.

Finally, I'm able to connect with individuals of like minds, collaborate and grow the team. Not forgetting growing my career too.

Thanks for reading.

I was fortunate to live fairly close to my work place.
I used my bike often for my commute of 5.6 kms to home after my usual night shift.
As much as a I adored some of the patients I cared for over the years, I can't take my Nursing work home with me.

I like the idea of living close to your workplace, it comes with some benefits.
Of course, nursing work ends in the hospitaluunlike mine that I take everywhere with me. 😅
Have a pleasant day

Either of the two is okay, depending on the type of job you do, and on the flexibility of your employer.

Very well said.

Your willingness to work in the office, maintain your routines, stay connected and organized to work efficiently is very valuable, as is your ability to meet people to introduce your station and get them to become listeners. Much success!,

You're right sis, working from the office can really help you create structure and decipline in your day. It also makes one to stay focused, stick to a routine, and separate work from personal life😀, that I believe. Sincerely speaking, not all work can be done at home. Some requires physical presence, access to specific equipment, or real time collaboration that is more efficient in an office setting right.
So yeah, everyone has what works best for them, and it's great that you've found an environment that helps you stay organised and perform at your best.

Indeed. Working from the office comes with benefits, same as working from home. For now I'll stick to the office until when, maybe opportunity for remote work comes knocking. In all, everyone should do what works for them.

That's just it, stick to what works for you.
