Hi, girls!
I'm especially addressing @kerrislravenhill, whom I'm inviting with this post to my adopted homeland: Las Tunas.
I mean, if it were up to me, we'd go to Germany, Norway, England, or Japan together, but since the prompt for this week's contest #259 is about our city, where we can experience our culture, we'll travel to Cuba, and we'll go to our eastern balcony.
The best thing about my proposal is that it comes in two forms. I'm inviting you to Las Tunas, and I'm sure @abelarte will take you to our homeland: Havana.
But it's in Las Tunas where you'll experience our culture firsthand, front and center, and with the familiarity that characterizes us Cubans. We can experience and breathe the best of our culture, concentrated in one city, in Las Tunas.
Of course, if we're talking about culture, we have to welcome you the way we welcome friends: with music, and who better than me, your cultural guide, to do that? I like to welcome all my friends with my guitar and play for them.
Then we'll have breakfast. The most important thing is the coffee. I won't talk about Colombian coffee, or Dominican coffee, or Italian coffee, but Cuban coffee is special.
Coffee is an element of our culture that is so ingrained in our way of being that it's inconceivable to have a Cuban home without coffee. I don't even know of one.
Of course, we would then go to Plaza Martiana. As I've said before, according to Maestro Leo Brouwer, Cuban culture begins with Martí (not chronologically, but that's how it is), and I understand. @gaviotawriter wrote a piece calling him the most important man in Cuba, and he is. He still is. So you have to go meet José Martí. If not, you won't have known anything. He's the key to fully deciphering every aspect of our culture.
Of course we have to go to the theater, to literary gatherings, and to my gathering at the Casa del Joven Creador, so you can meet the best of the province's young artists. We'll also go see several of the city's musical groups. The best Cuban music. We'll walk around the city and visit museums and other places of interest.
Of course, we'll have lunch and dinner at my house. No hotels or anything like that. We'll be with family, at home. And you'll eat food made by us (in this case, by Abel, who's the one cooking), and we'll make charcoal-grilled pork, beans, and plantains, among other things.
And, to close, you'll hear my guitar quartet Sultasto and the Isaac Nicola Guitar Orchestra, where I play alongside my children.

En especial me dirijo a @kerrislravenhill a quien invito con esta publicación a mi tierra de adopción: Las Tunas.
A ver, si fuera por mí nos fuéramos juntas a Alemania, Noruega, Inglaterra o a Japón, pero como el prompt del concurso de esta semana #259 se trata de nuestra ciudad para experimentar nuestra cultura, pues a Cuba viajaremos, y a nuestro balcón del oriente iremos.
Lo mejor de mi propuesta es que viene por partida doble. Yo te invito a Las Tunas y seguro @abelarte te llevará a nuestra tierra natal: La Habana.
Pero es en Las Tunas donde vivirás de primera mano, en primera fila y con la familiaridad que nos caracteriza a nosotros los cubanos, nuestra cultura. Lo mejor de nuestra cultura, de forma concentrada en una ciudad, la podemos vivir, respirar en Las Tunas.
Por supuesto que si hablamos de cultura, tenemos que recibirte como se reciben a los amigos: con música y quién mejor que yo, tu guía cultural, para hacerlo. A todos mis amigos me gusta recibirlos con la guitarra y tocar para ellos.
Luego desayunaremos. Lo más importante es el café. No hablaré del café de Colombia, ni el de Dominicana, ni los de Italia, pero el café cubano es especial.
El café es un elemento de nuestra cultura que está tan arraigado en nuestra forma de ser, que no se concibe a un hogar cubano en el que no tomen café. No conozco de uno, siquiera.
Por supuesto, luego iríamos a la Plaza Martiana. Como he dicho antes, según el Maestro Leo Brouwer, la cultura cubana comienza por Martí (no de forma cronológica, pero es así) y lo entiendo. @gaviotawriter escribió un trabajo en el que lo llamaba el hombre más importante de Cuba, y lo es. Aún lo es. Así que tienes que ir a conocer a José Martí. Si no, no habrás conocido nada. Es la llave para descifrar a cabalidad cada aspecto de nuestra cultura.
Por supuesto que tenemos que ir al teatro, a las peñas literarias y a mi peña en la Casa del Joven Creador, para que conozcas a lo mejor de los artistas jóvenes de la provincia. Además, iremos a ver a varios de los grupos musicales de la ciudad. La mejor música cubana. Pasearemos por la ciudad e iremos a museos y demás lugares de interés.
Claro está que almorzaremos y comeremos en mi casa. Nada de hoteles y eso. Vamos a estar en familia, en casa. Y comerás de comida hecha por nosotros (en este caso, por Abel, que es el que cocina) y haremos carne de cerdo al carbón, frijoles y tostones, entre otras cosas.
Y, para el cierre, escucharás a mi cuarteto de guitarras Sultasto y a la Orquesta de Guitarras Isaac Nicola, donde toco junto a mis hijos.
