The world has become increasingly materialistic. No matter how much we talk on sites and in communities like this one, unfortunately, we always seem to be losing the fight.
I'm writing this post because a few weeks ago, my Sultasto Guitar Quartet and I were invited to the National Cultural Day in the province of Guantánamo.
Here I'm sharing the promotional poster they sent me.
And you might be wondering what one thing has to do with the other.
It happens that in this art world, there are people who fight with others so that their group can travel, so that it can be promoted. There are some who buy their advances.
And that's very wrong.
Not all the money in the world can pay for what can be achieved through selfless actions; what can be achieved through good human relations, through sincere friendship.
There is something in the world called Karma. It may have other names, but this is the one I want to use.
Do good and don't look at whom, the saying goes.
It so happened that at the beginning of the year, my husband and I invited some friends and magnificent musicians from Guantánamo to our Concert Day in Las Tunas.
We did so to give their work the visibility and recognition it deserved and also to strengthen the link between the artistic teachings of both provinces.
In fact, their presence raised the quality of our event, and we are extremely grateful for accepting our invitation.
As soon as they learned of our invitation to the Quartet to play in their province, they immediately mobilized to be extremely attentive to us.
So much so that they gave us the responsibility and honor of giving the inaugural concert for their Cultural Day.
We are foreign guests, concert music guests, the ones responsible for this honor.
That gesture of theirs is priceless. We didn't invite them thinking they owed us anything. We did it out of recognition of their value as musicians, as people, and out of sincere and selfless friendship.
That's what human relationships are all about. A small gesture can be returned a hundredfold.
If you pay, you only get the equivalent of what you paid. Nothing more. It's something ephemeral, fragile.
Therefore, friends, let us foster our human relationships. There is greater joy in these actions and greater value than in simple business relationships.
These last as long as money lasts. Human relationships last forever.
It's quite simple, don't you think?

El mundo se ha vuelto cada vez más materialista. Por más que conversamos en sitios y comunidades como esta, por desgracia siempre parece que vamos perdiendo la pelea.
Realizo esta publicación debido a que hace unas semanas me invitaron con mi Cuarteto de Guitarras Sultasto a la Jornada por la cultura nacional, en la provincia de Guantánamo.
Aquí les comparto el cartel promocional que me enviaron.
Y se estarán preguntando qué tiene que ver una cosa con la otra.
Sucede que en este mundo del arte, hay personas que pelean con otras por tal de que su agrupación viaje, que sea promocionada. Hay algunos que compran su avance.
Y eso está muy mal.
Ni todo el dinero del mundo paga lo que se consigue con las acciones desinteresadas; lo que se logra a través de las buenas relaciones humanas, de la amistad sincera.
En el mundo hay algo que se llama Karma. Puede tener otros nombres, pero este es el que quiero utilizar.
Haz bien y no mires a quien, reza el dicho.
Sucede que a inicios de año, mi esposo y yo invitamos a unos amigos y magníficos músicos de Guantánamo a nuestra Jornada de Concierto en Las Tunas.
Lo hicimos para darle la visibilidad y reconocimiento que su obra merecía y, también, para fortalecer el vínculo entre las enseñanzas artísticas de ambas provincias.
De hecho, su presencia elevó el nivel de calidad de nuestro evento y les agradecimos enormemente por haber aceptado nuestra invitación.
Ellos, en cuanto se enteraron de nuestra invitación al Cuarteto a tocar en su provincia, al momento se movilizaron para tener muchísimas atenciones con nosotras.
Tanto así que nos dieron la responsabilidad y el honor de ser las que demos el concierto inaugural de su Jornada de la Cultura.
Somos invitadas foráneas, de música de concierto, las responsables de este honor.
Ese gesto de ellos, no tiene precio. Nosotros no los invitamos pensando en que nos debieran nada. Lo hicimos por una cuestión de reconocer su valía como músicos, como personas y por amistad sincera y desinteresada.
Eso es lo que tienen las relaciones humanas. Un pequeño gesto puede ser retribuido en cien veces su valor.
Si uno paga, obtiene solo el equivalente de lo que pagó. Nada más. Es algo efímero, frágil.
Por tanto, amigas, fomentemos nuestras relaciones humanas. Existe mayor alegría en estas acciones y mayor valía que en las simples relaciones comerciales.
Estas, duran lo que dure el dinero. Las humanas, duran para siempre.
Es bastante simple, ¿no creen?
