When you say survival movies, "just call my name already." I love survival movies because while watching those kinds of genres, I find myself lost in thought and imagining being in such a position. I don't know what I would do if I found myself in such a situation.
I have a movie guru on my contact list, and whenever I go through his status on WhatsApp and see a movie review, I immediately run to download that movie. That was exactly what happened with this movie, "not gonna lie," and then the name attracted me to it as well, "Nowhere".
The plot
The movie tells the story of a couple, "Mia and Nico," who decided to leave Spain due to a crisis that has caused a shortage of necessities. To control the shortage of resources in the nation, the tyrannical government started the killing of civilians.
The couple feared for their lives and that of their unborn child, so they decided to run away, and the only option that was before them was to travel through a cargo ship. The couple got into a container to be carried by a truck and later got separated when Nico was forced to get into another container.
The container started moving and got to a military checkpoint, where the military started killing everyone inside the container, but Mia hid herself somewhere on top of a stack of crates.
Mia tries to reach her husband, Nico, on the phone to tell him about the danger ahead, but it doesn't connect. All the containers were being loaded in a ship, and the ship had started moving when a great storm came, and all the containers fell into the ocean.
Mia's container is slowly filling with water. She used every tangible item inside the container that would enable her to survive for her use. Mia started hearing screams coming from outside. She looked through a hole in the container and saw another container filled with people that was sinking into the water.
Staying inside the container alone for two days, Mia got a call from Nico telling her, he is coming to rescue her. After dropping the call, Mia gives birth to a daughter. After giving birth, Mia determines that she has to survive for the sake of her daughter.
My Review
Firstly, I love survival movies, "I know I've said that before," because they enable me to reflect and imagine myself in those situations. Those movies bring out my inner superhero tactics when lost in my thoughts.
This movie is an incredible masterpiece that tells the story of love at the beginning, and it shows resilience at some point.
It's truly remarkable how the lead cast, Mia, played her role very well, it felt like an actual or real-life situation. "I mean that is what movies portray, right?" But then this one was kind of different, I could see a difference in her eyes whenever I saw her fighting for her life.
After giving birth to her daughter, she became so hungry, but sadly, there was nothing to eat, so she had no choice but to eat her baby's placenta. Seeing that scene, I got so scared that she might eat her baby, but then she didn't. The only thing she started doing was fishing.
The movie didn't just tell the story about Mia being lost at sea, but also her ability to fight for survival. And then the difficult choices she had to make.
I'm gonna rate this movie a 8/10. It was a great one.
