Review/ Los Dos Hemisferios de Lucca (En/ Es)

Hello my dear movie lovers, today I come to this beautiful community again, because I want to share with you a new cinematographic discovery I had and it is the movie Los Dos Hemisferios de Lucca Mexican film production that was recently released by the Netflix platform, specifically this January 31, 2025. At first, I entered the platform checking what I might like, I didn't see anything at the moment and I went through the premieres and the recommended ones and the title caught my attention.

From the first minute, when I started watching it, I was getting interested in the movie, but what really hooked me was that it said: “based on a real life story”. I love it when movies have this detail, because I know positively that this story was actually lived by someone and that it is not fiction. So, I started watching it and from the beginning I liked the way it was approached, with the protagonist narrating the story of her pregnancy, subsequent delivery and everything she went through after the birth of her son, after a complicated delivery, which left her son with terrible after-effects.

She narrates everything she had to live with her son from his first months, with a very difficult diagnosis: cerebral palsy, a condition that, by itself, condemned him to be tied to a wheelchair, bed and unable to fend for himself. This mother tells how she looked for all the available options to try to help her son, from physical therapies to medical treatments and the constant examinations to which she submitted her son in search of an improvement and for him to have a more normal and independent life than the doctors predicted.

What also caught my attention was the family dynamics they had to manage with their son and all that living day by day with a child under those conditions entailed. There I confirmed that not just any mother is a mother, nor any father and that God knows to whom these struggles are given, that I take my hat off to this type of parents and with this film I proved that you should never lose hope with a child; because this mother did everything and when she had the opportunity to start a new treatment almost to the other side of the world, in India, she and her family were willing to give her son the opportunity to see him, smile, interact, walk, eat. Things that most of us take for granted with our children.

And one of the scenes that touched me the most, was when, after the treatment with this new equipment, the boy Lucca, finally, calls his mother, “Mom”. She was just driving with him; at that moment I understood her excitement that her son could finally talk to her and call her “Mama”. Because that word means so much to a mother when a son says it to you for the first time, but even more, when you have to wait years to hear it, that woman deserved it with all its letters. So if you want to see something beautiful, inspiring and want to understand what these children and their families go through, I recommend you see it. For me, it's a 10 out of 10.

Hola mis queridos amantes del cine, hoy vengo a esta hermosa comunidad de nuevo, porque les quiero compartir un nuevo descubrimiento cinematográfico que tuve y es la película Los Dos Hemisferios de Lucca producción cinematográfica mexicana que fue estrenada recientemente por la plataforma de Netflix, específicamente este 31 de enero de 2025. Al principio, entre a la plataforma revisando qué podría gustarme, no vi nada de momento y me fui por los estrenos y las recomendadas y me llamó la atención el título.

Desde el primer minuto, en que empecé a verla, me fui interesando en la película, pero lo que me enganchó realmente fue que decía: "basado en una historia de la vida real". Me encanta cuando las películas tienen este detalle, porque sé positivamente que esta historia la vivió alguien en verdad y que no es ficción. Total, que empecé a verla y desde un inicio me gustó cómo la enfocaron, con la protagonista narrando la historia de su embarazo, posterior parto y todo lo que fue viviendo después del nacimiento de su hijo, tras un complicado alumbramiento, que le dejó terribles secuelas a su hijo.

Ella narra todo lo que tuvo que vivir con su hijo desde sus primeros meses, con un diagnóstico bastante difícil: parálisis cerebral, condición que, por sí sola, lo condenaba a estar atado a una silla de ruedas, cama y sin poder valerse por sí mismo. Esta madre cuenta como busco todas las opciones disponibles para tratar de ayudar a su hijo, desde terapias físicas, hasta tratamientos médicos y los constantes exámenes a los que sometía a su hijo en busca de una mejoría y de que este tuviera una vida más normal e independiente, de la que los médicos le presagiaban.

Lo que llamó mi atención, también, fue la dinámica familiar que tenían que manejar con su hijo y todo lo que conllevaba vivir día a día con un hijo bajo esas condiciones. Allí certifiqué que madre no es cualquiera, ni padre tampoco y que estas luchas Dios sabe a quienes se las entrega, que me quito el sombrero ante este tipo de padres y con esta película comprobé que nunca se deben perder las esperanzas con un hijo; pues esta madre hizo de todo y cuando tuvo la oportunidad de iniciar un nuevo tratamiento casi que hasta al otro lado del mundo, en la India, estuvo dispuesta ella y su familia de brindarle esa oportunidad a su hijo con tal de verlo, sonreír, interactuar, caminar, comer. Cuestiones que la mayoría damos por sentado con nuestros hijos.

Y una de las escenas que más me emocionaron, fue cuando, después del tratamiento con estos nuevos equipos, el niño Lucca, por fin, llama a su madre, "Mamá". Ella iba manejando con él nada más; en ese instante entendí su emoción porque su hijo por fin pudiera hablarle y llamarla "Mama". Porque esa palabra significa tanto para una madre cuando un hijo te la dice por primera vez, pero más aún, cuando tienes que esperar años para poder oírla, esa mujer se la merecía con todas sus letras. Así es que si quieres ver algo bonito, inspirador y quieres entender por lo que atraviesan estos niños y sus familias, te recomiendo que la veas. Para mí es un 10 de 10. ¡Saludos!
