When I started watching Blood Sisters, I was very tired. It was one of those nights that I just wanted a movie to put me to bed. But then I ended up binge-watching everything with one eye.
Blood Sisters is a 2022 Nigerian thriller/crime series about two best friends, Sarah and Kemi, who became fugitives after they killed Sarah’s husband-to-be, Kola, on their engagement day. They later had to be on the run because everyone was looking for them since the man they killed was from an affluent home.
For me, everything about this movie was very unpredictable. I kept on saying eiii every small time because this was very different from
all the regular Nigerian movies I watched during my childhood. They were very predictable and had very little action, so when this movie portrayed so much crime and action, I was very shocked.
The number one thing that blew me away was the cinematography and video quality. Like wow! And to think this series was done in 2022? Wow! Nollywood should take their flowers. I was so impressed by the cinematography to the extent that I ended up looking for behind the scenes to see how they even handled the cameras.
Whoever wrote the story is a genius. Hold on, let me get her name. Temidayo Makanjuola. She’s really good because she did a great job with the storyline. Even the ending of the movie came with unexpected turns, and every part of it was so enjoyable.
For the acting, I wasn’t even surprised because I’ve watched Nigerian movies since I was a kid, and they always give their all. Every one of the actors in the movie came with their A game. Nobody came to play at all. I like the way they were able to have my attention from the beginning to the end, and I didn’t even forward it like I normally do when I’m watching movies.
The movie was full of action right from the onset, and it made me really like it. There wasn’t even a dull scene. Everything from the start just kept me on my toes, looking forward to what was going to happen in the next scene.
The only thing I didn’t understand was how the girls were able to escape that far. They didn’t have money and food, but they were able to go so far to the extent that one of them was even able to go say hello to her grandma. During that period, I just knew that the writer had to involve unrealistic storylines just like the ones we used to watch when we were kids.
All the same, I really enjoyed this movie, and as I said, I’m even surprised it was released in 2022 because of its cinematography. It really showed me a whole different side to Nollywood, and even better, it confirmed to me that sometimes, all you need in life is that one good friend who eventually becomes a sister.
