Warm greetings to the beautiful family of Hive and @qc community. Trust you're doing pretty good. Welcome to another beautiful day. I'm excited to participate in this week's prompt. Welcome to my blog.
Peace - Do you think we can achieve a peaceful world without harming each other? Or is that just a utopia? What would we need to do as a society to achieve peace? What systems and laws would we need to create to achieve this? What should we teach people to achieve this?
Before I delve into the question proper I think it's safer to state what peace actually means. I define Peace as a state of mind where one or society lives in serenity or tranquility without anxiety , fear, chaos or conflict.
Going by this definition, it's relatively impossible to achieve peace without harming each other. Achieving peace can go either way, by dialogue or war. The approach adopted determines its outcome. Whether on personal grounds or collectively. If it goes on the way of dialogue no one would be harmed but if it happens to be war definitely there'd be harm.
The world we live in is full of troubles. Which also stems from individuals differences. Truth is, It gets worse before it gets better. Human beings are bound to misunderstand each other at some point in time, when this happens, conflict is inevitable. So, it's just a Utopia, a world of fantasy which only exists in dictionary, not in reality. There isn't a perfect system/society.
To achieve societal peace we need to expexhibit mutual respect for one another irrespective of gender, race, culture or age. The government should provide equal treatment to all citizens. Create good educational systems, healthcare and social services. Joblessness and social injustice trigger violence. Hence, the government should create economic opportunities to curb such.
Where there's need for citizens to call the attention of authorities where things are not going as supposed, they should do that through constructive engagements, peaceful protests or write to the government. This way peace would be sustained.
Institutions/ laws or media that would oversee the smooth running of the established systems should be created and strengthened. To ensure that those who are in charge of those establishments are held accountable should there be any mismanagement of the purpose for which they were installed.
To achieve this, people should be taught that government establishments are owned by the citizens because they were built with taxpayers money. Teach them to take responsibility to protect them. And to report to the right authorities should they find anyone vandalizing them.
Achieving a peaceful society is possible if everyone takes their rightful place. The Citizens should respect authorities, follow a legal procedure to express displeasure when things aren't going well.
Government on the other hand should ensure that citizen's needs are met, by creating equal justice, basics human amenities and jobs. Also sensitize the people on the importance of safeguarding public properties. However, achieving these is not without some kind of faceoff at the beginning, just like I said earlier that; it gets worse before it gets better.
Thanks greatly for stopping by.
