Sometimes people see beautiful harvest pictures online and think farming is always neat, clean, and successful every single day

If they don't have experience with it or know people, they're not going to know.

it's really funny how confidently some people can assert otherwise though

I currently have the opposite problem to you, I'm trying to gently ressurect a dust bowl of sorts (we had a plague of chickens one year and they ate everything, and then we stopped all gardening/homesteading activity for a few years after that, and have only just resumed recently, and the soil was not as dust bowl as I'd initially feared so there is that).
