Some way, somehow... I happen to be one of the very few friends a hobby-less someone has. Hobby-less. I say so because this person in question told me he did not have a single hobby and to be honest, I laughed cause what on earth did he mean by that?
However, when he held on to that statement, I didn't even have it in me to smile anymore and that was how a conversation that would have been a "hello, hi, bye-bye" morphed into something much more - it became an operation Help Dee Discover His Hobby. Or better still, hobbies.
I remember this conversation taking place in the middle of the night, the very moment my eyes started drooping. But then, one question led to the other, then another and before I knew it, sleep eluded me.
To cut the long story short, we ended up discovering that he has a likeness for the game of snooker, football, cooking and of course, chatting with me (duh 😜). It turned out the poor guy thought a hobby meant something one does every single day, unfailingly.
Except hobbies aren't necessary an everyday thing. They're just those activities people love to engage in when they're able to. One that doesn't cease to put a smile on their pale faces, ease to their heavy hearts and worried minds and relief to their tense muscles.
Hobbies tend to embody a calming sensation and a breath of fresh air in a world that forces to burn and consume.
I would not want to imagine my life without these little things that matter to me. Not when the thought of engaging in any of my numerous hobbies sends a rush of adrenaline all over me.
Talk about reading books or listening to music or watching movies or playing games or golfing or cooking or hearty conversations/ gist moments or watching the sunset or gazing at the sky or doodling or musing or strolling.
Or eating and sleeping, lol.
These are all me! And well, so much more.
Things that make each day memorable for me when I get to engage in them and I strongly believe every other person feels the same serenity, euphoria and aliveness I do in these very precious times... Seeping out from these little things that do matter.
