Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗
I feel pollution is a general problem in many parts of the world. I know this to an extent from movies and also news I have watched and read.
Pollution has affected and is still affecting the environment and public health of many communities. Pollution, as we all know, encompasses various types, including air, water, land, and plastic pollution, and each of these has its own unique causes and consequences. While we don't get to talk about pollution often, it's something that affects everyone directly or indirectly.
It's the rainy season, and while I get excited about the rain, I also have reasons why sometimes I don't like the rain. This is because there are areas I can't visit when it rains. So I had training sometime ago in a city that was different from mine, and we were lodged in one of the city's finest areas. I was so happy and excited until it started to rain, and I went out to get something at a shop outside the hotel. The front of the hotel was flooded with dirty water from the gutters, and everywhere was stinky with smells, but I was shocked when I saw people entering the water to cross to the other side of the road as if they were walking inside clean, crystal-clear water.
There's a street I don't dare follow during the rainy season whenever I'm going to my family house, even though it's shorter, because all the houses have nothing less than two gutters that are not well taken care of, and the men in that area also urinate outside the area. The smell around there is acidic; it can choke someone to death, and if you mistakenly step on any water anywhere there, just know it's filled with urine and any rubbish you can think of.
While all types of pollution we have are detrimental to our health and total well-being. I personally think air pollution is the worst because of its immediate and long-term health impacts. We keep inhaling different kinds of stuff without knowing how hazardous they are to our system. There was a time I came across a post online that said, according to the World Health Organization, air pollution has been linked to millions of deaths worldwide, and Nigeria, my beloved country, is not an exception.
We all have roles to play in eradicating pollution, and I think one of them is creating awareness. I don't want to believe that everyone knows the causes and consequences of pollution and how our individual actions can help make our communities and the world a better and safer place for everyone.
