Security is one major aspect that that needs to be taken with utmost priority, if there's no security, it means life and properties are not safe and then it's risky staying in such environment.
Although there's no place or country that do not have its own insecurities but its still better in some places compared to others. Talking about the state of security in my country, I'll like to state the fact here and not even try to hide anything because it's my country (Nigeria).
The state of insecurity in my country is just too high, too much and it's increasing day by day. Though the government is trying but I think the trying is not enough.
I want to believe that the government has all the capacity to curb banditry, criminals and so on but it seems some people at the top are sponsoring and benefiting from the bandits. Because if not, all their atrocities should have been put to an end but it's getting more rampant day by day.
There was a time that it was the case of Boko Haram everywhere, these group of bandit will go into a certain village or community and set the place on fire with bombs, or they might even go to cities and destroy precious thing and even kill many people in the process, sometimes they go to place of worship like churches and mosques, set the place on fire, causing trouble all over the place.
These bandits have killed alot of soldiers because they're the ones that mostly go after them in the forest, they have their hiding place which is the sambisa forest, and I still wonder why these people haven't been wiped out all this while. Yet putting the lives of innocent military men at risk for nothing.
Each time I see men that are been recruited into the Nigerian Army, I shake my head and feel pity for them because most of these people are only been recruited to go and suffer and get killed at the end of the day, only the lucky ones get to escape death.
Another rampant case of insecurity is kidnapping, this particular one is very rampant these days, and it's getting more serious day by day. Both the cities and villages are suffering from this now, if the big cities can be experiencing high rate of kidnapping, how much more the small communities. I'm a teacher by profession and I'm posted to work in a rural area, I can tell that kidnapping cases that has been recorded there is countless, we've lost count already, and it's not only about kidnapping, sometimes they kill people too, those that fail to cooperate with them or those that seems to be disturbing them from doing their evil work.
Few months ago, in the place where I work, some kidnappers came around and cause great hazard in the community, they caused a the community a very severe pain. The number one citizen of the community was killed in cold blood, they also kidnapped the wife and two random people. My question is, if the number citizen can be killed and the wife also got kidnapped how much more other citizens, how certain is our safety.
There's no way I'll advise people to come for tourism in my country because it's not safe, they can only come at their own risk. Also, I believe alot of people especially those that do listen to news would have seen and heard alot about the state of security here, it's better to believe what you've seen and heard because it's not funny here, stay safe.
