Beautiful bird! In most birds of prey, females tend to be larger than males. 🙂 !LUV

Sort:

Did not know most raptor females are larger, this breed female is almost double the weight of the males. Males; 68 to 70 grams - Females; 100 and 105 grams.

There are a few different theories, such as females have to be stronger to protect the nest, or that selection evolved because of choosing smaller males to be able to face the males in case of agression, etc. 🙂

Will research more into the raptors here, always interesting to learn about bird life, each very special.

No doubts about it,bird life is a fascinating subject. 🙂

Went to do some research to find you are 100% right most females in raptor family are bigger, this little one is quite noticeable compared to larger raptors. Thanks for info.

Always a pleasure to share cool info! :)
