Sunny Day, Gentle Breeze, When All Come Out To Feast
Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard. - Emily Dickinson
With real life events of late I have not been forthcoming with my birds over the last three months, so here is a treat of those not yet posted elsewhere.
Muisvoëls is uniquely African order of six species, named for ability/habit clambering around branches close to tree trunk of trees and bushes, simulating rodent behaviour, perhaps that's why when directly translated, "Mouse Bird".
Speckled Mousebird (MousebirdColius striatus) seldom able to photograph, inhabiting thickets in moist woodlands, they feast on fruit, berries, nectar, seeds clinging within the tree seldom sitting in the open for me in this particular bush. Have had good viewing previously when reaching the top, not this time!
Violet-backed starling (Cinnyricinclus leucogaster) or plum same bird, between sexes a very different appearance, male and female visiting today during February. These birds spend little time on the ground and build nests high in cavities in tree trunk.
Normal behaviour a pair together, small flocks may spend time congregating often segregated sexually. Prefer woodlands and riverine forests following fruiting cycles in trees.
African green pigeon (Treron calvus) visiting once again, seen on the treetops in fading light of day. Two clambering around the tree must enjoy whatever is up there.
Flapping about to keep balance, tilting upside down for the morsel that must not be missed, watched these two for awhile enjoying the sight, only lingered here for a couple of days then off again.
End of day once again with sun going down early one hears new calls as night arrives and daylight fades, take heart in forever feathers logical approach of hope always.

All photography my own using Canon Powershot SX730 HS. Anything not properly identified please let me know in comments below. Now go out and have a wonderful day wherever you live in our wonderful world.
