I finished this yesterday (my friend told me the best way to enjoy it was to read it in one session, so I tried to do that) and while it's not my favourite read, I do think it provides a different reading experience than anything I've read before!
Reading Orbital was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. From the very first page, it pulled me into this quiet, breathtaking journey around Earth, one that felt both vast and deeply intimate. Following the stories of six astronauts, each so different yet so human, I found myself reflecting on my own place in the world. The book seamlessly captures the day-to-day of space travel, but what really struck me were the moments of stillness, the philosophical questions, the raw reflections on existence, identity, and purpose. It made me pause, more than once, to just sit with the thoughts it stirred. I finished it feeling a strange mix of awe and calm, like I’d been shown something profound and grounding at the same time. It left me thinking about the universe, yes, but also about life right here how precious and fleeting it all is. I walked away with a renewed sense of wonder and gratitude. This book didn’t just tell a story it changed something in me.
It's not my kind of book but I wouldn't not read something similar again.
