The evolving ways of education

in #education28 days ago

As a student, in my time, teaching methods were very boring and monotonous. My generation only had text book studies, we never had any computers, iPads, mobile phones, or any such gadgets. They were not even in existence then in my country. So it was all about reading books. The only other place where we gained knowledge was libraries, which were in abundance.

The teaching methods of the new generation is very different, they do have text books but besides that they have lot of other tools that helps them learn better. I see my nephew's way of getting educated and I feel it's so much simpler then what it used to be in my days. There's so much of reference material online. With technology easy ways of remembering the studies are identified. I also see how students score high percentages nowadays, compared to the scores we had, 30 years back. Nowadays it is common to score anything above 80% and in my time even getting 70% was a challenge, and barely a couple of students would get. There are no exams till 4th grade now, in my time, we had exams right from nursery class. Also all the subjects were compulsory and there were no choices that we could make based on our interest, but that facility is there in the current education system, which makes it so much better.

I always think is it that suddenly in the past 3 decades students have become intelligent, or is it just that the ways of education have changed. I guess it's the second one. At the same time I see that the general awareness is less in today's time and also the effort of going through any struggle is less, because everything is available easily. One more observation I have, that the use of library is getting less. In my generation, we extensively used the library and also had one dedicated class for library, where we had to compulsory go to the library and read any book of our choice. I remember I liked to read geography books and from there only my curiosity of travelling across the world started growing. Once in a way we were taken to museums, which were also not very fancy as what there are today which are related to education.

Ways of education have changed a lot since the last 3 to 4 decades, I do not compare it because with time it is obvious that things will change. What is there now, will no longer be same in the next 30 years and today's student generation will have the same feeling. I find that the interactive learning and also the increase availability of educational resources what are there today are much better then the monotonous ones that we had in my time. And at the same time, I feel that getting everything so easily is taking away their critical thinking ability and now allowing them to use their brain capabilities to the fullest.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Education has really evolved, around here some subjects were merged into one subject, some text books are no longer bulky. Even the way kids are being treated in school is different from the way we were taught and treated. I admire how technology has made everything easy now.

I too admire it and at the same time I feel somewhere they are not learning the real life skills. When everything comes easy, the value is less and that's what exactly happening with the new generation.

That's right, they are still missing out in somethings even though they have everything at ease now

I can see why you love traveling, me I never liked geography haha immediately i see those maps I will sigh and close the book 😂 truly children of this days are enjoying because then it was tough, now they get assistance from different angles now AI is also there there own better

May be 3 decades later, it will all become home schooling via gadgets and children may not go to school at all :-)
