It was really tedious task to sort out the education process of your son at that age and much props to you for observing how he's processing the situation and adjusting to better fit his expectations. Interestingly, I was also very quite as a child, my mother thought I couldn't speak because I hardly say a word unless it was absolutely necessary for me to say something. I was the type that will just go to school, be by myself, get the work done for school, whatever that maybe, then get back home. I think I just couldn't relate with most kids at that time, didn't have any common ground to work within or shared values/principles to build a relationship around.
