Hi community!

It's been a year since the Pedri's last injury while wearing a Barcelona shirt.

Early March 2024. Just over a year ago, Pedri returned to the Barça infirmary due to a thigh injury. It was the Canary Islander's third injury of the 2023-24 season, all in the same area. The midfielder was going through a real ordeal, hence his tears when he had to leave the pitch at San Mamés. The discomfort prevented him from playing regularly. Every time he felt good again, he was forced to stop. But curiously, it was the last medical problem he suffered in a Barcelona shirt. He was also sidelined in the summer, but due to an injury with the national team during the European Championship, the result of a tackle by Kross. Since Hansi Flick arrived, he hasn't set foot in the Barça infirmary.

Just over a year ago, the club issued a statement announcing that Pedri had an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh. He was sidelined for 35 days, until early April 2024, but it would be the last time he suffered an injury while playing for Barça. Therefore, it's been a year since the Canary Islander last saw the infirmary. He did miss part of the European Championship, not due to a muscle problem, but rather due to a harsh tackle by Kross. But with Barça, since Flick's arrival, he has yet to appear on the medical report, except for gastroenteritis at the end of January.

The injury from a year ago wasn't just another ailment. It was the umpteenth physical problem that forced Pedri to stop playing. After not having a single setback in the 2020-21 season, his first season in the top flight, the player endured a nightmare for the next three years. Xavi looked for solutions, but without success. Instead, the German coach has found the key, and the midfielder is possibly having his best matches with Barça.

Hansi Flick opted to change his training method with the midfielder, and it's worked out perfectly. "I haven't felt like this in a while, and I'm enjoying it. I've often wished I was like this. Confidence in a player is very important, and Flick instills that in you. He has a lot of faith in you so you can do what you know. His way of training suits me much better; we've found the key with the physios and coaches," the Canary Islander explained a few days ago. The work focuses more on stretching and exercises with elastic bands than on weights. Furthermore, he now always starts matches.

Pedri has a double challenge ahead of him. On the one hand, he must surpass the 52 matches he played in the 20-21 season; he currently has 42. Barring any surprises, the Canary Islander will finish the season with even better numbers, as Flick is committed to always starting him and distributing his playing time according to his workload. He's also looking to reach seven goals from the 22-23 season. To date, he has celebrated five.

See You soon!
