Hi community!
The Barcelona youth player returned to the pitch against Borussia Dortmund after three months.
Ansu Fati's current season with Barça has been a difficult one. The youth academy graduate returned to the pitch last Wednesday against Borussia Dortmund after three months out.
Despite the player getting playing time at the start of this season, competition up front and his lack of competitiveness left him on the bench. So far, between injuries, missed calls, and substitute appearances, Ansu has only played 191 minutes in nine matches ,four in the Champions League, four in La Liga, and one in the Copa del Rey and has scored no goals.
The last time the youth player had played was against Barbastro on January 4th. However, Lamine Yamal, aware of the Blaugrana's situation, repeatedly asked Flick to be substituted in the match against Dortmund until he was replaced by Ansu.
This is just one example of the team's unity, which at this point is fighting to win the treble at the end of the season. Although they may be experiencing a difficult footballing situation, the forward feels supported by the dressing room, as demonstrated in one of Lamine's recent Instagram posts, where the two appear alongside Gavi and Héctor Fort.
The German coach tried to recover Ansu Fati's football at the beginning of the season, but after suffering a muscle injury shortly afterward, Flick told him it was best for him to go out on loan in January. However, the player decided to stay without even considering the offers he had.
In subsequent press conferences, whenever he was asked about the situation, the coach spoke forcefully, urging him to react in training and work harder.
Now, after his minutes in the Champions League and ahead of next Saturday's La Liga match against Leganés, he praised the player's improvement: "Will Ansu Fati get minutes tomorrow? We'll have to see how the players are doing. I can't say if he'll be in the starting eleven or if he'll get minutes. What I can say is that he's improved and is now training at a much higher level, which is what we expect from him."
We'll see if, taking advantage of the fact that the match is played between the first and second legs of the Champions League quarterfinals, the German coach is banking on giving him a chance with some minutes against the pepineros.
See You soon!
