Hi community!

The Catalan club will maintain that there was no improper alignment of the Basque center back.

FC Barcelona will present its allegations regarding the lawsuit filed by Osasuna with the RFEF's Disciplinary Committee regarding the alleged improper selection of Iñigo Martínez in the match held at Montjuïc last Thursday. The club believes there were no irregularities in the Basque center-back's presence in the match against Osasuna, as the player was released from the Spanish national team squad due to a certified medical leave and the club had not refused to release him.

This past Monday, Barça received the appeal filed by Osasuna and believes the lawsuit regarding Iñigo's improper selection will be dismissed. The Navarrese club stated in its complaint that the Barça defender could not play in the match because it had not been five days since the national team's last match. However, Iñigo had been dropped by Luis de la Fuente at the start of the international break due to his injury and was not included in the final squad for the Nations League quarterfinal matches against the Netherlands.

The RFEF's Disciplinary Committee's final ruling on this matter is expected next week, but Barça also wants to provide its explanations to defend its claim that Iñigo Martínez was not improperly selected against Osasuna.

Barça can rely on FIFA regulations and the RFEF General Regulations to justify Iñigo Martínez's selection. Article 5 of the FIFA Player Transfer Regulations makes it clear that this five-day extension is only applicable if the club has refused to release the player or if the player himself has refused to attend, which was not the case with Iñigo. For its part, the RFEF's General Regulations also support Barça's position in Article 248.

Iñigo Martínez had the RFEF's authorization when he was recalled on Monday, March 17, and Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth) was called in to replace him. This implies that he accepted Barça's medical report for Iñigo.
