Hi community!
"I accept it and acknowledge it, I've never been one to hide," the Barça defender wrote on Instagram after the criticism he received for his performance against Inter.
Ronald Araujo was arguably the most targeted FC Barcelona player following the team's Champions League semi-final exit to Inter Milan. The team's vice-captain, who had come on in the 78th minute at San Siro to replace Iñigo Martínez, was unable to prevent Francesco Acerbi's shot that made it 3-3 and led to extra time in stoppage time, nor was he able to stop the attack that led to the final 4-3 in favor of the Nerazzurri.
Social media was particularly harsh on his performance. Forty-eight hours later, the Uruguayan international defender took to his Instagram account to issue a heartfelt message brimming with self-criticism and a sense of sporting revenge, especially in the face of the upcoming Barça-Madrid clash. "I accept and acknowledge this. I've never been one to hide, and I never will," the Barça center-back began his post.
"It hurts to be out, but it doesn't end here. We worked, fought, and gave it our all in a tough series. It wasn't enough, and that hurts," he acknowledged.
From there, his message was immediately defiant. "But I also feel pride. Pride in this team. In my teammates, in the crest we represent, and in every Barça fan who was with us every step of the way. During 2025, we demonstrated, as a team and as fans, the winning mentality we have. El Clásico is coming up, and we're going to give it our all. We are Barça, we will come back stronger," he concluded.
See You soon!
