Estuve pensando en escribir este post, pero no sabía por dónde comenzar.
Durante la temporada de carnaval en mi país, Venezuela, todo se salió de control.
Siendo afectado el Parque Nacional Morrocoy, ubicado en el estado Falcón, específicamente, el Cayo Los Juanes.
El turismo interior destrozó corales, manglares y el hábitat de diversas especies debido a actividades que contaminan el ambiente.
Parrillas dentro del mar, aerosoles que contaminan, basura y desechos humanos en general (todo lo que puedas imaginar), lo cual fue desechado y realizado en zonas protegidas del parque.
Todo esto fue grabado y se encuentra documentado en Internet, como una gran "hazaña", una "maravillosa experiencia".

Pero, ¿cómo sucedió esto?
Para descubrir el motivo, hay que enumerarlo. Sobre ello me quejo constantemente en redes sociales, porque todo está vinculado.

I've been thinking about writing this post, but I didn't know where to begin.During Carnival season in my country, Venezuela, everything got out of control.
Morrocoy National Park, located in Falcón state, specifically Cayo Los Juanes, was affected.
Domestic tourism destroyed coral reefs, mangroves, and the habitat of various species due to activities that pollute the environment.
Grills in the sea, polluting aerosols, trash, and human waste in general (everything you can imagine) were discarded and disposed of in protected areas of the park.
All of this was recorded and documented online as a great feat, a wonderful experience.

But how did this happen?
To understand the reason, we need to list them. I constantly complain about this on social media because everything is connected.
Venezuela ha sido por años un país sin ley.
Lastimosamente, en Venezuela es muy común este tipo de actividades donde se daña el ambiente, se irrespetan las normas y se perjudica a otros.
Lo peor de todo es que estas actividades suceden y no hay nadie que haga nada al respecto.
Porque las acciones se toman después de ocurrido el hecho, cuando alguien se queja en Internet y hay suficiente ruido como para que las autoridades tomen cartas en el asunto.
Sobre ello Valentina Quintero, hizo una critica vía Instagram. La misma critica que hacemos muchos venezolanos a diario con respecto a nuestro país.
Y esto no puede seguir así.
La única forma de que Venezuela sea el país que queremos es que las autoridades hagan su trabajo. Y no solo se sienten a tomar café para conversar del día.

For years, Venezuela has been a lawless country.Unfortunately, in Venezuela, these kinds of activities are very common, damaging the environment, disrespecting the rules, and harming others.
The worst part is that these activities happen and no one does anything about it.
Because action is only taken after the fact, when someone complains online and there's enough noise for the authorities to finally get involved.
Valentina Quintero criticized this via Instagram. It's the same criticism many Venezuelans make daily about our country.
And this can't continue.
The only way for Venezuela to become the country we want is for the authorities to do their job, and not just sit around drinking coffee and chatting about the day.
Which brings me to my next point...

No solo son culpables los turistas, sino también todo aquel funcionario que no hace su trabajo.
Si llamas a la policía porque tus vecinos tienen música a alto volumen todo el día, te dicen que debes hacer el reclamo a partir de las 9 PM.
Vuelves a llamar a las 9 PM, responden, pero nadie llega al lugar.
Es por ello que el mal venezolano se ha acostumbrado a llevar a cabo este tipo de actividades, porque saben que no pasará nada. Saben muy bien que muchas personas en el país lo verán como una tontería, porque ellos solo "se están divirtiendo", mientras vulneran el derecho de sus vecinos.
Se ha fomentado la cultura de la violencia. Porque sí, la música a alto volumen también es violencia, así como todo lo que afecte el bienestar de otros.
En el caso de Morrocoy, también estas actividades son consideradas violencia ambiental. Debido al daño al ecosistema y a las especies en general.
Es por ello que considero que lo que sucedió en Morrocoy es parte de ello. Parte de esa cultura, parte de esa negligencia gubernamental.
Porque hay una realidad innegable, y es que no debió haber pasado existiendo entes gubernamentales así como funcionarios que en ese momento no estaban haciendo su trabajo.

Not only are tourists to blame, but also any official who fails to do their job.If you call the police because your neighbors are playing loud music all day, they tell you that you have to file a complaint after 9 PM.
You call again at 9 PM, they answer, but no one comes to the location.
This is why some Venezuelans have become accustomed to carrying out these kinds of activities, because they know nothing will happen. They know very well that many people in the country will see it as foolish, because they are just "having fun," while violating the rights of their neighbors.
A culture of violence has been fostered. Because yes, loud music is also violence, as is anything that affects the well-being of others.
In the case of Morrocoy, these activities are also considered environmental violence, due to the damage to the ecosystem and the species in general.
That is why I believe that what happened in Morrocoy is part of this. Part of that culture, part of that government negligence.
Because there's an undeniable reality: it shouldn't have happened, given the existence of government agencies and officials who weren't doing their jobs at the time.
Just like what happens every day in this country.

Pero también es culpa del venezolano silencioso.
Ese venezolano que no se queja, ese venezolano que dice "pero está en su casa", ese que apoya que las personas se diviertan, el que no participa, pero observa en silencio sin decir nada.
Ese venezolano también es culpable de esto.
Porque nos hemos acostumbrado a no alzar la voz, por razones que los venezolanos conocemos. Así como también por temor a la reacción de otro venezolano.
Me sucede que a veces, cuando llamo la atención de niños, adolescentes e incluso de adultos que son crueles con los animales, recibo algún insulto o amenaza.
Es peligroso, sin duda. Sin embargo, no quiero ser ese venezolano que se hace sorda y ciega ante los problemas. Porque precisamente por ello es que hay tantos.
Dejamos pasar las cosas hasta que llegamos a este punto, un país sin cultura, un país sin valores ni principios donde reina la marginalidad sobre el sentido común.

But the silent Venezuelan is also to blame.That Venezuelan who doesn't complain, that Venezuelan who says "but he's at home," the one who supports people having fun, the one who doesn't participate but observes silently without saying a word.
That Venezuelan is also to blame for this.
Because we've become accustomed to not raising our voices, for reasons that Venezuelans know all too well. As well as out of fear of another Venezuelan's reaction.
It happens to me that sometimes, when I call out children, teenagers, and even adults who are cruel to animals, I receive insults or threats.
It's dangerous, without a doubt. However, I don't want to be that Venezuelan who turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the problems. Because that's precisely why there are so many.
We let things slide until we reach this point, a country without culture, a country without values or principles where marginality reigns over common sense.

Pero no todos somos así, así que hay esperanza en el país.
También hay personas que alzan su voz como ambientalistas, así como los que quedamos dentro del país con sentido común.
Por ello creo que es digno de reflexión y acción todo lo sucedido.
En cuanto a las autoridades, hay trabajo y mucho para hacer en el país, y esto que sucede no puede ni debe volver a repetirse.
En cuanto a los funcionarios, se entiende que la situación del país es dura. Que no se gana lo suficiente, pero todos vivimos lo mismo, es la realidad. Y aun así hay gente que sale a hacer su trabajo.
El país no se construye esperando a que otro haga el trabajo, sino haciendo lo que se debe hacer.
Y aunque sea una crítica dura y directa es extricatamente necesaria, para todos. Para empezar a tomar consciencia, para empezar a construir realmente, para dejar de ser conformistas.
Porque de nada nos sirve aspirar a algo, cuando somos nosotros mismos los que debemos tomar acciones.
Así que lo que sucedió en Morrocoy no solo es una actividad repudiable, es el reflejo de lo que pasa a diario en el país.

But not everyone is like that, so there is hope for the country.There are also people who raise their voices as environmentalists, as well as those of us who remain in the country with common sense.
Therefore, I believe that everything that has happened is worthy of reflection and action.
As for the authorities, there is work to be done in the country, and what has happened cannot and must not be repeated.
As for the public officials, it is understood that the country's situation is difficult. That they don't earn enough, but we all experience the same thing; that's the reality. And even so, there are people who go out and do their jobs.
The country is not built by waiting for someone else to do the work, but by doing what needs to be done.
And although this is a harsh and direct criticism, it is absolutely necessary for everyone. To begin to raise awareness, to truly begin to build, to stop being complacent.
Because it does us no good to aspire to something when it is we ourselves who must take action.
So what happened in Morrocoy is not only a reprehensible activity, it is a reflection of what happens daily in the country.
