Life is mysterious and that makes it beautiful. Just when you start getting used to uncertainty, when you begin expecting every phone call to bring another problem or every notification to carry another responsibility, life has a way of surprising you with something that changes everything.
Recently, I received the best news I have heard in a very long time. The girl I want to spend the rest of my life with said ye, well not in the traditional way in the west in which people propose on their knees, i mean i did propose but i also asked to meet her father/dad to ask for his permission to marry her and she messaged me and said Yes, he'd agreed. Such a simple word, just three letters, yet it carried the weight of countless prayers, hopes and dreams that I had quietly held onto for so long. I remember the moment vividly. My heart was racing, and despite trying to appear calm, I was anything but. There is always that fear of rejection, no matter how confident you think you are. You replay every possible outcome in your head.
Then came her answer. "Yes." he had agreed, everything else faded into the background. The worries about every other challenge suddenly seemed smaller. It felt as though someone had lifted a weight I didn't even realize I had been carrying. I know marriage brings with it its own challenges but one step at a time and we can beat anything i believe. What made the moment even more special wasn't the positive answer, it was knowing that we had both chosen each other. Marriage isn't simply about finding someone you love, for me love is just the first part, i beleive i am self aware enough to understand that love isnt the only thing that holds a marriage, its a major factor but it is not the only factor. It's about finding someone who believes in building a life with you through both the easy days and the difficult ones. Someone who sees your flaws, understands your imperfections, and still decides that you're worth choosing every single day.
I was filled with gratitude and excitement, in a world where relationships are often temporary, and some just use it to pass time, finding someone who genuinely wants to walk through life with you feels like an incredible blessing. Of course, saying yes is only the beginning of a much bigger journey. There will be plans to make and challenges to overcome. I know marriage is not a fairy tale where everything magically falls into place. We are not saying yes to perfection but saying yes to growing together and supporting one another. Looking back, I realize that many of the things I worried about eventually worked themselves out. Some prayers were answered immediately, while others took time but ultimately anything that has to do with the future i pray about it and leave in the hands of God, i mean why worry over what you cannot control.
Today, my heart is full, full of excitement. I am thankful to God, grateful for the woman who chose me, and excited for the future we will build together. This isn't just the happiest news I've received, it is the beginning of the next chapter of my life, and I couldn't be more grateful.
