Hola hivers.

Como dicen más hacia el norte, el verano llegó. En el colegio, en esta época se aprovecha para relajarse un poco, llegar algo tarde a las convocatorias del día y, lo más importante, conectar con el resto del personal que labora dentro de la institución.

Aunque no parezca, duramos un aproximado de 200 días juntos, pero muy poco es el tiempo que se dispone para poder conocer de cerca, primero, a los demás colegas y también al personal obrero y administrativo. Cada quien, durante todo el periodo escolar, se centra en realzar su trabajo y muchas veces es supercomplicado coincidir con todos a la vez.

Hi, hivers.

As they say further north, summer has arrived. At school, this is the time to relax a bit, show up a little late for daily meetings, and—most importantly—connect with the rest of the staff who work at the school.

Although it might not seem like it, we spend about 200 days together, but there’s very little time to really get to know our colleagues—and the support and administrative staff—up close. Throughout the school year, everyone focuses on doing their best work, and it’s often really hard to run into everyone at the same time.

El viernes fue uno de esos pocos días, aprovechamos que el director ordenó realizar una comida especial para que todo el personal pudiera ir a almorzar. Generalmente, cada quien lleva su taza y come en sus oficinas o en el aula de clase que le toque en su horario. Esta vez nos fuimos todos juntos a comer al comedor.

Friday was one of those rare days; we took advantage of the fact that the principal had arranged for a special meal so that all the staff could go to lunch. Usually, everyone brings their own cup and eats in their offices or in whatever classroom is assigned to them for that period. This time, we all went together to eat in the lunch.

El espacio de la institución es bastante amplio, me encantan unas caminerías que están en la parte de atrás, bloque que se deja exclusivamente para los pequeños del primer año. En este caso, es la entrada más corta para llegar al comedor, así que todos nos fuimos por ese lado.

The school grounds are quite spacious; I love the little walkways in the back, an area reserved exclusively for the first-graders. In this case, it’s the shortest route to the cafeteria, so we all went that way.

Fue bastante extraño, mayormente hay mucho ruido en estos espacios, los estudiantes siempre con su energía ocupan todos los espacios y dejan poco espacio para maniobrar. En este caso, todo estaba en relativo silencio y, pues, todos aprovechamos la ocasión para hacer un recuerdo a través de fotografías mientras esperábamos que el almuerzo estuviera listo.

It was pretty strange—usually there’s a lot of noise in these spaces; the students, with all their energy, fill every corner and leave little room to move around. In this case, everything was relatively quiet, so we all took the opportunity to take some photos as a keepsake while we waited for lunch to be ready.

Fue un buen compartir, todavía queda un par de semanas de trabajo administrativo. Los días comienzan a hacerse más largos cuando pensamos que estamos tan pronto de unas buenas y merecidas vacaciones. Veremos a ver qué nos deparan estos próximos días antes de la pausa del verano.

It was nice to spend time together; we still have a couple of weeks of administrative work left. The days are starting to feel longer now that we realize we’re so close to a well-deserved vacation. We’ll see what the next few days have in store for us before the summer break.
