I have been wanting to visit the woods behind my house for a long time. The weather was bad for a while, and my nieces came to visit me, too. Between the busy days and some personal chores, I slowly forgot my plan.
Everything changed this weekend while I was resting on my little trampoline. The afternoon was quiet until I heard sweet birds singing nearby. I looked up and saw tiny birds zooming through the green leaves. I suddenly remembered my plan to photograph the birds in the woods. I grabbed my camera quickly and ran straight toward the trees.
The leaves were thick and bright green. I looked up closely into the branches. There it was. I saw a beautiful yellow-vented bulbul sitting high up on a branch. You can see this lonely little bird surrounded by green leaves. I only took two quick photos before it got scared and flew away.

Luckily, the bird did not go far. It landed safely on a bumpy manunggal vine (bitterwood). Then, a second yellow-vented bulbul flew down and perched right next to it. They looked so cozy together on the bitterwood vine. You can see both of them looking around the quiet woods.

The two birds opened their little beaks wide and started to sing a happy duet together. They looked like they were having the best conversation. I captured their sweet morning song. They turned their heads and looked left and right while singing.

Before they flew away into the deep forest, the sun moved behind them. They looked like dark shapes against the bright blue sky. I took 2 last photos of their silhouette.

It was such a lovely weekend surprise to find these singing friends right behind my backyard.
