Trip to the City: Escaping the Effect of a Scheduled Power Interruption

in Hive PH9 days ago (edited)

Here on the Island of Guimaras, power interruptions, whether scheduled or sudden, are considered a common occurrence. Whenever there's a scheduled power interruption, my family and my sister's family usually spend the day on a beach or a resort to pass the time and for a short family bonding as well.

So today, there's another scheduled power interruption from 6 am to 6 pm. So, my family decided to go to the city and spend an evening there. My sister, on the other hand, has different plans, so this time, we spent the weekend separately.

We went to the city on Friday afternoon. We plan to take an evening walk around Plazuela and SM Southpoint.

This is the Plazuela de Iloilo. This place looks lively at night. The lights made it more inviting, but we just passed by.

This is the staircase that's part of the San Rafael overpass. This overpass is famous because of its artistic design and the colorful murals. This is the only overpass in Iloilo with an elevator.

As we walked, we saw tall buildings. Every year, more and more establishments and businesses are rising in the city. Every time we visit here, we discover something new.

We arrived at SM Southpoint. I love the mini park area where people can enjoy a little bit of nature. There were benches for people who wanted to take a rest. If ever you get hungry, coffee shops and cafes are just around. There's also an open-air area for small events or for picnics. There's also a dancing water fountain that lights up at night.

After our short walk, we decided to have our dinner.

We had a lovely night.

We are excited to explore more in the morning. 😊

I can say that you are lucky to have the privilege of knowing when there will be an outage; that helps you to plan. In my case, outages occur unannounced and it happens several times a day. Reason is energy available is approximately 5000 megawatts for over 200,000 population. That’s why you see solar panels and fossil-fuel powered generators everywhere. I hope we too would get it right .... someday

Oh, that's frustrating 😢
There's manual load dropping in some parts of the country, causing sudden power interruptions. I guess I'm lucky that I can prepare.

yeah, anything to escape boredom 😁

The places you visited look so nice, especially at the night with the lights and peaceful vibe.

Yes, I agree.. Nighttime in the city is different. It's noisy, but sometimes a good noise 😁

Your description of the San Rafael overpass staircase is clear and informative. I like how you pointed out not just the physical aspect of the staircase but also the uniqueness of the overpass itself: its artistic design, colorful murals, and the rare feature of having an elevator.

What a lovely city trip looks like a very colourful city and full of lights, charming 😍

yes, I love the night view in the city 😊

The splashy fountain and that colorful overpass reminded me of the vibrant charts we sometimes see in the office, making finances feel a bit more fun :) When the lights dim, dont forget to smile at the night market vibes, and you’ll see even an ADmin could trade spreadsheets for street food for a while.

😂
okay, I'll always remember that
