Shadows Crossing the Small Bridge (Part 3)
After an exhausting day, I finally found myself walking again across the small bridge that connects the hotel areas. This time, the shadows were different. They were mine.
The journey to get here was not simple. Waiting under the sun at the bus stop, then getting off near the old Varadero airport to take another bus while they refueled. It makes you wonder if after so many days without activity there was no time to prepare, or if, as usual, it was just a lack of planning. No one seems to care about hundreds of workers standing there, carrying their bags, waiting under the heat.
By the time I finally arrived and crossed the bridge, carrying my belongings, the sun was already lower. My shadow stretched over the structure, marking each step toward the building where I am staying — or rather, where I am “lodged,” because that word feels more accurate than “guest.” A guest has rights, can complain, can demand certain conditions. Here, things are different.
Even simple things become complicated. You cannot cross through the lobby, even when the hotel has no guests. Instead, you have to walk around through the parking area, under the sun, taking the longer way. Standing there, watching my own shadow move along the bridge, I realized that sometimes these images say more than words.
The photos were taken with my mobile phone, and for the English version I used Google Translate.

Hola, amigos de la comunidad #ShadowHunters, gracias a la amiga @melinda010100 por convocarnos a esta iniciativa en su Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest – Round 422.
Sombras cruzando el pequeño puente (Parte 3)
Después de una jornada agotadora, finalmente me encontré otra vez cruzando el pequeño puente que conecta las áreas del hotel. Esta vez, las sombras eran diferentes. Eran las mías.
El camino hasta aquí no fue sencillo. Esperar bajo el sol en la parada, luego bajarme por el antiguo aeropuerto de Varadero para tomar otro ómnibus mientras le echaban combustible. Uno se pregunta si después de tantos días sin trabajar no hubo tiempo para prepararse o si, como casi siempre, faltó previsión. A nadie parece importarle que cientos de trabajadores estén ahí, con sus maletines, esperando bajo el sol.
Cuando por fin llegué y crucé el puente con mis pertenencias, el sol ya estaba más bajo. Mi sombra se alargaba sobre la estructura, marcando cada paso hacia el bloque de habitaciones donde estoy albergado. Porque esa es la palabra correcta. No puedo decir hospedado. Un huésped tiene derechos, puede reclamar. Aquí la realidad es otra.
Incluso lo más simple se complica. No se permite atravesar el lobby, aunque el hotel no tenga clientes. Hay que dar la vuelta por el parqueo, bajo el sol, por el camino más largo. Y ahí, viendo mi propia sombra avanzar sobre el puente, pensé que a veces estas imágenes dicen más que cualquier explicación.
Las fotos fueron tomadas con el móvil y para la versión en inglés utilicé el traductor de Google.
