Yesterday Varadero was filled with noise and water. The rain fell torrentially for hours, accompanied by deep thunder and flashes of lightning that lit up the sky from time to time. It was one of those storms that seem to shake everything and remind us of the power of nature.
But by sunrise the landscape was different.
The water had mostly disappeared, although here and there small puddles remained on the sand. Walking calmly, it was easy to find reflections in almost every one of them—small improvised mirrors that for a moment duplicated the world.
In one of those puddles I found the scene I share in these photos. On the surface of the water appeared the reflection of a huge nearby rock, along with the silhouettes of some palm trees and shrubs. Everything appeared upside down and slightly distorted by the gentle movement of the water, as if the storm were still breathing inside that small natural mirror.
I like to think that after the rain the landscape finds new ways to reveal itself. Sometimes it is enough to look down to discover another quiet world, hidden in something as simple as a puddle on the sand.

Después de la tormenta.
Después de la tormenta, el suelo se llenó de pequeños espejos.

Ayer Varadero se llenó de ruido y de agua. La lluvia cayó de forma torrencial durante horas, acompañada de truenos profundos y relámpagos que iluminaban el cielo por momentos. Fue una de esas tormentas que parecen sacudirlo todo y recordarnos la fuerza de la naturaleza.
Pero al amanecer el paisaje era otro.
El agua se había retirado casi por completo, aunque aquí y allá quedaban pequeños charcos formados sobre la arena. Caminando con calma era fácil descubrir reflejos inesperados en cada uno de ellos. Pequeños espejos improvisados que por un momento duplicaban el mundo.
En uno de esos charcos encontré la escena que comparto en estas fotos. Sobre la superficie del agua se reflejaba una enorme piedra cercana, acompañada por la silueta de algunas palmas y arbustos. Todo aparecía invertido y ligeramente ondulado por el movimiento del agua, como si la tormenta aún respirara dentro de ese pequeño espejo natural.
Me gusta pensar que después de la lluvia el paisaje encuentra nuevas formas de mostrarse. A veces basta con mirar hacia abajo para descubrir otro mundo tranquilo, silencioso, escondido en algo tan simple como un charco sobre la arena.
