The world offers us a system of knowledge. Knowledge that had improved and widens our ability to adapt to this world. Yes, the knowledge of the world teaches us how to adapt to this world. They have no idea about God in heaven. They have no idea about the things that pleases God. In fact, their concept is contrary to the concept of God. Their ways are not in agreement with the ideals of God. So, the world has had no way of understanding the things that concerns God. The things that concerns God are foolishness unto them.
A carnal mind does not understand the things of God. The things of God are foolishness to that mind. That mind only does what pleases his flesh. This is why having the knowledge of this world could not make one knowledgeable unto God. To those who have the knowledge of this world; to those we think are the well educated people in the world, the knowledge of the word of God is hidden from them. They have no understanding about God. Their lives are built around the scientific and philosophical knowledge which they have acquired. But man cannot understand God through their mental reasoning. We need the Holy Spirit to teach and reveal God to us.
