Mountains, rivers, plain areas and even beaches are some of the Nature's gifts for us. All of this can gives us a cool and relaxing views, and peaceful place to live. The Municipality of Naawan contains lots of wonderful views particularly the mountains. Sitio Along-alongon is a border point between Municipality of Naawan and Barangay Paniangan in Manticao, Misamis Oriental. This Sitio was once a native village but it was completely abandoned and fled to other parts of the place in the Mountain. Others called it Pastohan which mean a ranch of farm animals like cows and goats. Sitio Along-alongon is located at Barangay Paniangan, far from urbaned places and it needs to travel by walking for a few hours before reaching the place.
Mountain and climbing adventures are very perfect here in fact som e hikers and adventurers likes to visit here making camps and picnics.
There are few hills at the top of the mountain and it is very eye catching because of the Divided small hills at the top. The four small hills located here are named "Bandera" which means the top because of the high place and wonderful overlooking views. Bikers and motorcycle riders loves to do riding adventures and the hill is covered with cogon grass. Power lines and electric posts also installed at the top of the hill and few road trails located at the stone mountain slope sites.
Road trails are made of solid stones and some of it are covered with mosh. Even if the soil only contains small amounts here, still the place is also perfect for farm activities and most valuable crops grows here are cassava, pineapples, Bananas and coconuts. Wild tall trees also grows here like Molave, mahogany, Germilina and ipil trees. Wild animals are also expected here like birds and other harmful animals like snakes. This rocky road trail laids to the Bandera Mountain and this is the only way in order to reached the place. In local residents they called it "Panas" which means no soil at the top. Each side of the road trail contains lots of wild grass which is good for animals and some kinds of tall trees. Native people made this rocky road trail and it is still usable until today especially Photographers and riders.
There are also channels of road trails can be seen and found in the place and each trails leads to different places. Aside of that, this way is an alternative route for those who are stranded in the river because of the flood. This road trail leads to River where steel bridge locates. Backed in old civilizations, this areas was once a farm land owned by native people and most of the animals raised here that time was Cows and Goats. Because of the place full of Grass, farm animals are raised here. Due to a forest fire happened here back many years ago, most of the valuable plants like coconuts burned down and died and only few of it are survived.
This site here was once a farm land also, and it was cultivated and plowed and planted corns and sugarcanes. But as many years has past, the field was already covered with lots of cogon grass and other wild grass. This is one of the hill located here and it is facing to the neighboring mountains here in Sitio Along-Alongon.
There are also few old trees grows here and one of it is this tree called, Bangkal. Near of it is the old and abandoned native house made of light materials like bamboo pieces, round lumbers and plainsheets. It built hanged were tall foundations so wild animals like boars cannot come inside everytime when there is a stampped that time. It is built very unique and have a wonderful overlooking views. Visiting sitio Along-Alongon is very worth it specially when it terms in Nature adventure. We can truly relaxed ourselves and feel the pressence of Nature.
