The Bixby Memorial Free Library is an impressive library in the small town of Vergennes, Vermont.

It was built in 1910 and features a beautiful central dome. Here is what Wikipedia has to say --->Bixby Memorial Free Library

There are some historical items including this cool old sign. Of course there are portraits of the Bixby family but lighting wasn't good for taking pictures of paintings behind glass 🙁

I'm sure theres a good story behind this quilt but I didn't find it in the library or online.

This willl warm the heart of people my age or older... A nice old school card catalog. No longer in use but nice bit of nostalgia.

Lots of nice little spaces like this fireplace with an old map of Vergennes.

This meeting room has traditional, old details like the brass light fixture and the wood with glass cases with historical collections.

The reading rooms are warm with more of the traditional feel - this one with leather sofas and cool lighting fixtures.

The dome was the most impressive (and most difficult to capture) feature. The center of the library is three stories high topped with the glass dome. Balconies on the second level provide a good view of the space. There are also granite columns supporting the dome which I somehow failed to photograph. Anyway the actual architecture is much more impressive than my post 🙁
