No doubt it has become a job on its own for people to move around and beg for people, what a time we are in the world currently!
I don't know if you've seen them, but I always see them especially whenever I am travelling; you see a middle aged woman who will approach you with pictures of babies "orphan" and will beg you for money saying she works there and the money will be used for the good of those orphan babies... It's where we are in the world currently.
Charity on it's own is a very good thing that enriches not just the physical body but the soup also but it's always painful when your good deeds do not even reach the target audience you had in mind all because of the greed of humans.
In the other way round, it has also become difficult to even acknowledge who actually wants to do a charitable act and who just wants to trend on the social medias.
We live in a time where appearances often overshadow substance and people derive joy in having an image of generosity rather than generosity itself making it so difficult to know if these help they always advertise that they gave actually served the purpose or just an avenue to fuel another layer of deception.
In recent times, it is not also so uncommon for us to hear that someone who genuinely wanted to help someone and gave donations to the person suddenly starts suffering from uncommon illnesses. This is reported to be particularly notorious amongst beggars along the roadside and some say they used the donation for various occultic purposes.
How would you feel when your goodwill becomes a peril to your own self?
Personally I give alms once in a while but I do not just give. Whenever I want to give, I take it upon myself to just visit the organisation I want to donate to and make sure that they have a reputable background.
This few minutes background check will be enough just not to make someone's goodwill to be exploited even though It is not as if it is a guarantee that whatever I took there will be used appropriately but at least, it is just a way of justifying that I have done the most I can from my own end because in reality, corruption, mismanagement, and lack of transparency plague many organizations and individuals.
Nonetheless, beyond the question of if what we donated will be used for good cause, we must ask ourselves very pertinent question, As donors, are we giving to be seen, or are we giving to help?
In summary, donations in our world of today has become challenging, not because people are not willing to help others but because people are scared of how their donations will be used because the true value of charity lies in not how loudly it is announced, but in how quietly it transforms lives.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
