You mention 13th century as the historical branding and that just breaks our brains here in North America where we can't even compare it to anything we would have known over here.
LOL.. yes we kind of take it for granted, all the history. Whenever I meet Americans / Canadians.., they are in awe of all this stuff right next to me!
Big beams collapsing.., normal fare really. It's best not to stand on them especially when moss ridden like these ones. They made beams to last back then, so even collapsing ones.., can still be ok.
