It's so lovely to receive a little something in February, from a message and funny jokes to chocolates and flowers. I'm currently single, so the messages and gifts I send and receive mostly come from my children. Receiving chocolates is always my greatest pleasure. Going out for sushi is another thing I've enjoyed. I've also received flower arrangements, though these days I prefer plants so I can watch them grow and enjoy their blooms.

When you reach this stage of life, you eventually understand that you have to love yourself first in order to care for others. We're supposed to put ourselves first, but we always forget to take care of ourselves; it seems we're programmed to attend to others first. I must admit, my family has always come first, then me. But life takes unexpected turns and makes us realize that taking care of ourselves makes our old age easier for our children, by not being an additional burden.

Cuando uno ya llega a estas alturas de la vida termina comprendiendo que hay que amarse primero uno para poder cuidar a los otros. Se supone que uno debería ser lo primero, pero siempre se nos olvida cuidarnos, parece que estuviéramos programadas para atender a otros primero. Debo admitirlo siempre ha sido primero mi familia y luego yo.
